Tackling Matted Fur

Tackling Matted Fur

How to Prevent and Manage Matted Fur in Pets

Matted fur can be painful for pets and challenging for owners to manage. Mats form when loose hairs get tangled and clump together, especially in pets with long or curly coats. Regular brushing is the best way to prevent mats from forming. Focus on areas where mats are more likely to develop, such as behind the ears, under the legs, and around the collar.

If your pet already has mats, it’s important to address them promptly. Small mats can often be gently worked out with a brush or comb, but severe matting may require professional grooming. Never try to cut out mats with scissors, as it’s easy to accidentally cut your pet’s skin.
